Life expectancy is increasing. It seems as if 100 is the new 80, which is changing the way we look at the 'old age' phase of life. Life plans and professional as well as personal perspectives are sometimes being completely rethought.
In recent years, interest in the topic of "successful ageing" has increased significantly in politics, science and social work. Today more than ever, the focus is on the requirements for healthy and satisfied ageing. It is therefore important to make optimum use of existing potential and to significantly expand the existing personal and social resources for 'successful' ageing.
In this lecture, historical images of ageing will be presented and various aspects of the new view of old age will be presented and discussed on the basis of scientific findings.
