Altenbeken at the gateway to the Eggegebirge mountains has long since made a name for itself among railroad enthusiasts: you can trace the history of the railroad everywhere in the town.
Combine this special railroad atmosphere with a hike on the viaduct hiking trail. The 29 km long circular trail is a successful combination of railroad and nature experience. Since 2009, the Viaduct Hiking Trail has been awarded the "Wanderbares Deutschland Quality Trail" by the German Hiking Association.
During the two-day hike along the well-marked trail, fantastic views of the mighty railroad viaduct - the largest stone railroad bridge in Europe - open up before your eyes time and again.
