The Borgholzhausen Shooting Club was founded in 1837 and can therefore look back on over 175 years of history.

Founded in 1837 with the aim of maintaining a sense of community and promoting harmony, the shooting club enjoyed a peaceful period until 1913. Shooting was suspended due to the two world wars. The fate of the marksmen is and has always been linked to contemporary history. Events such as the world wars and the Nazi era also had an impact on the marksmen. It was only when Theodor Heuss proclaimed the re-establishment of the Schützenbund in 1951 that 10 determined people came together in Borgholzhausen shortly beforehand and revived the shooting club. Club life quickly got going again and the first shooting festival was celebrated as early as 1950.

In 1956, the Halle, Westbarthausen, Werther and Borgholzhausen shooting clubs joined forces under the name "Schützenvereine Rund um die Ravensburg". Knetterhausen was then added in 1977, and these clubs still celebrate the "Rundum die Ravensburg" shooting festival alternately to this day. Since 2022, the Versmold Shooting Club has also been part of it.

So far, I have only spoken of shooters, shooting clubs were a male domain, due to the fact that shooters originally had a military role. In 1975, women were accepted for the first time and in 1995 we had our first female shooting queen, Marlis Steffen. Today, it is impossible to imagine club life without our shooting sisters.
