Monument
The old four-storey half-timbered house is now a horticultural business with a tree nursery

There are two theories as to the origin and meaning of the term Sattelmeyer. On the one hand, Sattel can refer to "Sadel = seat" or "sadeln = to settle" (Saxon), and designates these farmsteads as ancestral seats or original settlements, where the first settlers had their homes.

On the other hand, according to documents from the 17th century, the Sattelmeyer were farmers who always had to provide a strong man with a horse and saddle to defend their lords. This could also be the origin of the name Sattelmeyer. The unpopular standby service was soon converted into a monetary fee.

The Nordhof - today a horticultural business with a tree nursery (www.nordhof-baumschule.de) - is a prominent example of the typical Sattelmeier farms in Enger. The farm was destroyed in a fire in 1747, when it was still close to the town, and rebuilt on its current site. The four-storey half-timbered house is surrounded by beautiful old trees. The show garden is open to visitors.
