This unsignposted nature tour takes you through the Widukind town of Enger and the surrounding area and is ideal for all nature lovers. The route starts and finishes at the Widukind Museum in Enger.

The nature tour around the Widu town of Enger starts in the town center, traces the legendary Widukind with its own museum and then turns north to a typical Sattelmeier farm, the Nordhof. Passing the former home of the famous author and biologist Rolf Dircksen, the route continues via Sieke and Bachtäler until it crosses the old tracks of the Kleinbahn for the first time. Continue in the direction of Ringsthof, past the old Bismarck oak tree and an enchanted transformer house. Lonely Heuerlings houses are a reminder of the poor rural population who worked in the fields by day and at the loom by night. With a bit of luck, rare migratory or breeding birds can be observed in the Enger Bruch. Shortly before the end of the tour, it is worth visiting the tannery museum.

Further information on the route and the waypoints can be found on the cycle leisure homepage of the district of Herford: www.fahr-im-kreis.de. An audioguide and a brochure are also available for download there.
