Tangible railroad history at the small railway station
The Kleinbahnverein has been providing information in the museum hall at the former Enger small railway station since 2009. The focus is on the history of the Bielefelder Kreisbahn and the Herforder Kleinbahn. Both lines were put into operation in 1900 and ran until 1954 and 1966 respectively. Minor railroads were used where the main line could not run for economic reasons or due to difficult terrain. On display are diesel locomotive Köf No. 12 from the 1940s and sidecar No. 31 from the Herforder Kleinbahn from 1927.
More exhibits are to follow. In addition, photos, newspaper articles, graphics, tools and machines will be used to illustrate the history of small railroads.
