Neustädter Rathaus

With its half-timbered buildings and Renaissance-style buildings, the Neuer Markt is one of the city's most outstanding sights. It is the center of Herford's new town and part of the pedestrian zone.
The magnificent Neustadt town hall is particularly beautiful. It was built in 1579 over an older predecessor building. The ornate stepped gable in the Weser Renaissance style, reconstructed in 1988 after years of decay and demolition, is particularly beautiful.  FunFact: When the citizens had the representative town hall built, no one suspected that only a little later, in 1634, the old and new towns would merge. After that, meetings were held in the Old Town Hall and the New Town Hall was no longer used as a town hall.
