Your day of arrival is a Thursday or Friday. On the very first day, we will take you to one of Herford's highlights, the Marta. On an architectural tour, you will discover extraordinary things in and around the Marta Art Museum. If you like, you can enjoy a snack in the Marta Café after the tour or discover the current exhibition for yourself.
On Saturday, enjoy a good night's sleep or visit one of Herford's renowned outlets before taking a short guided tour of the historic market hall at lunchtime, where you can enjoy your lunch in a cozy market atmosphere. Afterwards, you will visit the Villa Schönfeld, an old industrial villa that now houses Herford's municipal museum.
On your way there, you can enjoy the magnificent architecture of the Gänsemarkt and stop off at a café if you like. For the evening, we will be happy to organize tickets for you at the GOP Bad Oeynhausen. The variety theater is housed in the baroque hall of the Kaiserpalais am Kurpark and promises entertainment at the highest level. We can also book you dinner there.
On your third day in Herford, a tour guide will welcome you at the Marta and accompany you on an architectural walk. He will tell you about architects, builders and their buildings and show you highlights from eight centuries.
Afterwards, either directly or after a short breather, you will head to a very special place in Herford, the Archaeological Window at the Minster, or AFaM for short. The covered excavation site has a very modern design and is another architectural highlight of your trip. Discover on your own the multimedia exhibition rooms on the global significance of the Damenstifts, which once stood on this site. Among other things, watch films in which Katharina Thalbach takes on the role of various abbesses and captivates you with true stories from the active times of the abbey.
After the tour, we recommend stopping for a bite to eat in the town center before returning home.
