300 kilometers of signposted cycle paths, idyllically situated along the Weser and the Wiehengebirge mountains, lead you through interesting moorland and farmland landscapes, pretty villages and lively small towns in the Mühlenkreis Minden-Lübbecke. What makes the district truly unique, however, are the 43 functioning windmills, water mills and horse mills as well as Germany's only millable ship mill.

In this collection, we present six day tours by bike that connect these historic buildings. The starting point for all tours is located so that you can easily arrive by train or car and then set off on your bike straight away.

In addition to our route suggestions and navigation with komoot, you can also cycle the day tours on the Mühlenroute according to junctions. The junction system supplements the red and white signposted cycle network. It is equipped with various numbered "junction hats" at certain signposts. These are clearly visible above the signposts.
There are six mills to explore on this tour around the town of Espelkamp. There is also the Rahden Museum Farm, which is a typical farmstead from the 19th century. So plan some time to look at everything at your leisure. You can start anywhere along the route. We recommend starting at Rahden train station. You can park your car here or simply arrive by train.

From here, you cycle around the town of Espelkamp in an anti-clockwise direction. In the west, you come very close to the Dümmer Nature Park. Thanks to the extensive flat landscape, you can easily make out the individual windmills like landmarks. The Stockhausen estate and the Eilhausen watermill, which you will come across in the south of the loop, are less clearly visible. To the west, you will come across the Tonnenheide and Wehe windmills, which are often used as event venues these days. At the end of the tour, if you haven't already done so at the beginning, you can take a look around the Rahden Museum Farm before finally reaching your starting point.

On this route, you can follow the nodes in the following order: 95-94-96-99-12-13-14-81-80-76-75-73-72-88-89-90-91-92-93-94-95
