The location of the mill
The earthen hill stands "on the Höchte", the highest elevation above the village of Hille at 67 meters above sea level. The builder could not have found a better place in 1733, as the wind almost always blows here.
The history of the mill
After more than 250 years, the windmill ceased operation in 1956, most recently only with motor power. The sails and wind rose had ceased to function many years earlier.
The restoration
Since November 1999, the once royal mill has had a new hood, clockwise rotating sails and a functioning wind rose.
