A mill with a long history

The Weher Bockwindmühle has an eventful past dating back to the 17th century. It was originally known as a bishop's mill until before 1650, when it became the property of the Rahden church. It served as a state royal mill until 1732, which underlines its special status in the region. The mill is constructed as a boarded wooden box with a very strong beam structure. Particularly impressive is the wing shaft with a wooden head as well as the historic grist mill, which brings the old craftsmanship of grain grinding to life.

Culture and tradition - lively events around the mill

Today, the Weher Bockwindmühle is not only a technical monument, but also a lively venue for cultural events. Traditions are preserved here and combined with modern influences. Highlights include folk dance and theater performances that take visitors back in time, as well as changing picture exhibitions and arts and crafts markets featuring local artisans.

A very special experience is the Low German church service, which is held every year on Ascension Day. This event attracts people from near and far and offers an insight into the regional culture and language. Whether young or old - the Weher Bockwindmühle has something to offer for everyone.

Milling and baking days - a treat for the senses

Another highlight are the milling and baking days, when visitors can experience the mill operation. In the lovingly furnished bakehouse, fresh butter cake is baked in the stone oven according to old tradition. The aroma of fresh pastries wafts through the air while visitors can look over the baker's shoulder. They not only learn about the art of baking, but can also enjoy the fresh butter cake on the spot - a real treat for the senses!

A special culinary experience - the coffee table

For groups of 10 to 70 people, it is possible to take part in the popular coffee table by appointment. The freshly baked spelt waffles served with cherries and cream are a culinary highlight. This regional specialty is particularly popular with visitors and offers a cosy way to reflect on the impressions of the mill over a meal together.
