The "Lübbecker Landweg" connects the sights of Lübbeck's city center and the seven districts of Alswede, Blasheim, Eilhausen, Gehlenbeck, Nettelstedt, Obermehnen and Stockhausen on a scenic route of around 40 kilometers.

You cycle through fields, meadows and meadow landscapes, discover country castles and knights' residences and can explore an extensive nature reserve. Along the way, old half-timbered farmsteads, windmills and watermills, medieval churches, an old school and a fire station will tell you all about local history. On the route along the Wiehengebirge, there are viewpoints of the North German Plain and the scenes of old legends about Saxon Duke Wittekind. On a walk through Lübbeck's town center, you can trace the history of the town's manorial, merchant and industrial culture from the early Middle Ages to the present day.

Parking areas in the east, west or center of the town are just as good a starting point as Lübbeck's train station.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

A special attraction is the 700-year-old Stockhausen estate, a castle complex with moat, gatehouse and main house, pigeon tower, ancient courtyard, estate cemetery and chestnut avenue. The Renkhausen estate to the north of Gehlenbeck is also a worthwhile excursion destination near the moor and canal.
