The most significant testimony to the village's 700-year history is the Stockhausen estate. It includes the manor house and various farm buildings as well as a picturesque gatehouse. The inner courtyard of the estate has a medieval feel, while the chestnut avenue and the small estate cemetery also contribute to the historic charm of the village. Due to the valuable building fabric, a total of 19 buildings are listed as historical monuments.
Picturesque village landscape
In addition to the historical buildings, the village structure of Stockhausen is also characterized by courtyard oaks, orchards and farm gardens. These elements add to the idyllic picture and contribute to the rural atmosphere.
Village community and commitment to preservation
Since 1989, the village community has been working hard to preserve and develop Stockhausen in its traditional form. The aim is to shape the village in such a way that the residents can continue to live, work and live well in the future.
Successes and awards
The efforts of the village community have been recognized several times: in 1995, Stockhausen won the gold plaque in the "Our village should be more beautiful" competition at both state and national level. In 1997, the village was named a "model cultural village", and in 1999, participation in the "EXPO Initiative Ostwestfalen-Lippe" confirmed the positive developments in the village.
