Zehntscheune Dringenberg

Historic site
The ensemble of historic buildings in the old town center in Dringenberg also includes the former tithe barn, the prince-bishop's tax office.

The Dringenberg tithe barn - from tax obligation to festival hall

The citizens had to pay the tithe of their income to the representative of the sovereign, the Landdrost. The predecessor of the current building fell victim to the flames during the Thirty Years' War, although it is still a mystery today who was responsible for this.

In 1682, Prince-Bishop Ferdinand von Fürstenberg had the new tithe barn built in a massive construction style. The coat of arms carved in stone is emblazoned above the entrance.

In the years 1957-59, the municipality of Dringenberg converted the barn into a sports and festival hall, largely preserving the old structure. In 1988, the so-called "Little Brother" was built with the active help of volunteers, in particular the Schützenbruderschaft.

The tithe barn can be hired for weddings and celebrations via the operating association.
