Wartturm Rothe

Fortress/Castle
The Wartturm is still the ruined tower of an earlier land defense system that was built to protect the fields and extended over the heights far into the Warburg Börde.

In most cases, a land defense consisted of several ramparts and ditches, which were overgrown with impenetrable thorn hedges and were intended to make it impossible for enemies to penetrate. Watch towers stood on high ground, which were manned day and night by lookouts, especially in uncertain times.

The tower cannot be climbed, but there is a wonderful panoramic view from the foot of the watch tower.
