Rothe

Historic town centre
Rothe belongs to the town of Beverungen and is a small, agricultural village.
On the southern border of the old district of Höxter lies the farming hamlet of Rothe, which has around 160 inhabitants (as of 01/01/2016) and whose name is probably derived from the word "roden". The village was first mentioned in the 12th century as the property of Helmarshausen Monastery. According to tradition, however, Rothe was built by the inhabitants of the village of Eilsen, which was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War.

Today, the smallest village in the town of Beverungen does not have its own church, but it does have the wildly romantic Wartturm from 1429, the ruined tower of a medieval fortification that was built to protect the fields.

Although the tower cannot be climbed, the glorious view can also be enjoyed from the foot of the Wartturm
