For example, the miraculous image - a 30 cm tall Gothic wooden sculpture from 1300 depicting the Virgin Mary carrying the infant Jesus on her left arm. A baroque crown has been added to the Gothic figure.
Another treasure is the image of "Mother Anne the Mother of God", a Gothic oak sculpture around 40 cm high from 1510. It depicts Mother Anne, with the still youthful Mother of God with pigtails to her left. On her right arm, Mary's mother carries the child of God.The beauty of the faces and the garments are particularly emphasized in the figure.
The sculpture of St. Michael and the depiction of the four evangelists from the Baroque period should not go unmentioned either. The pilgrimage is linked to the picture of grace and the name of the church "Birth of the Virgin Mary" - the oldest pilgrimage date given is 1403 - which is of particular significance from an ecclesiastical and historical perspective.
Numerous pilgrims from near and far still flock to this church for the two traditional pilgrimage days "Visitation of the Virgin Mary" in July and "Nativity of the Virgin Mary" in September.
Good to know: A four-color church guide, which can be purchased at the church and also at the Tourist Information Beverungen, provides detailed information about the church (Hermann-Josef Sander: St. Marien Dalhausen; Regensburg 1996; Schnell & Steiner-Kunstführer No. 2275; ISBN 3-7954-4004-1; price: €3).
