A green oasis in the middle of the city: the 2.5-hectare Steinmeisterpark is barely a 10-minute walk from the shopping area. Numerous benches along extensive walking paths invite you to relax and linger. Here you can relax from the stress of everyday life, enjoy the laughter of the children in the playground at the edge of the park or simply watch the ducks swimming. The Steinmeister pond is the last of the original 38 fish ponds that were created at the end of the 19th century in the entire area between Lübbecker Straße and Bismarckstraße for fish farming. The initiator of the Bünder fish farm was August Steinmeister, the son of the co-founder of the Bünder cigar industry. It is not known why fish farming did not catch on in Bünde. Even today, the small house on the edge of the pond is a reminder of the master fish farmer who lived here at the time.
The Steinmeisterpark was given a new look in 2012 and the town was given a completely renovated recreational area. A lot has happened in Graubünden's "green lung": a cabaret stage, boules courts, the reconstruction of the old footbridge, a semi-circular seating staircase right by the water, new paths and more open access from two sides. It is a contemporary redesign that retains the original charm of the site.Further information: www.fahr-im-kreis.de
