This unsignposted circular route through Bünde and the surrounding area to the north and east is a leisurely and varied tour through urban and rural areas and is perfect for families, senior citizens and leisure cyclists interested in the topic of monuments.

The route starts and ends at the train station, Bahnhofstraße 82 in Bünde.

This circular route offers plenty of variety in the district of Herford: lively urbanity meets rural seclusion and tranquillity. Start at the train station in Bünde. Passing the beautiful "Universum" cinema, you leave the city center heading north and cycle to Dünne. After a few ups and downs, you reach an old castle-style waterworks and shortly before that the highest point of the route at 106 m above sea level - a third of the route has already been completed. From here, the route first descends to the Else. As the trail continues along the northern bank to Kirchlengern, you can experience how the river flows in natural loops through the nature reserve. South of the Else, the route then climbs up again to the "Doberg". It's worth getting off the bike here and locking it up for a moment. The former, large marl pit, which is now both an archaeological monument and a nature reserve, is definitely worth a detour on foot. The last third of the route leads along many monuments and past the Museum Island through the center of the tobacco town of Bünde back to the train station. An alternative starting point is the parking lot at the train station in Kirchlengern. Of course, it is also possible to set off from any other point on the route.

Bünde train station is easy to reach by train from Bünde, Herford and Bad Oeynhausen. Bicycle transport is possible here (sometimes limited)

Further information on the route and the waypoints can be found on the cycle leisure homepage of the district of Herford: www.fahr-im-kreis.de. A brochure is also available there as a free download.
