Jahrhundertbrunnen

Monument
The century fountain is a gift from the "subsidiary" Stadtwerke to the city of Herford to mark the 100th anniversary of the Herford waterworks in 1996.

The fountain with its moving figures is reminiscent of Herford originals: "Mother Green", who was on the road as a "flying trader" with her little cart and sold all kinds of haberdashery. Her real name was Anna Hirschfeld and she died lonely and impoverished in 1950. Next to her is a "trumpeter" who played a song for a cold beer. The two children in a carousel gondola represent the many showmen based in Herford.
