Animal lovers of all ages can now get answers to these and similar questions from the new bat detector at Dedinger-Heide-See in Bad Lippspringe. The Paderborn-Senne District Biological Station has set up the device together with the town council. It is the only one of its kind in the whole of OWL.
The function of the solar-powered detector is quickly explained: it records the sound waves of bat calls and then reproduces them at an audible frequency. Interested citizens should stand by the detector at dusk and wait quietly for a while to see if the bats make themselves heard. If this is not the case, the device can also play back sounds that have already been recorded. The device also provides further exciting details about the nocturnal animals.Good to know
