The Beech Wilderness Trail is part of the Natural Heritage Hiking World near Altenbeken and starts and ends at the nature conservation center in the former Steinbeke forester's lodge, on the edge of the large contiguous beech forest. Paths, forest edges, quarries, streams, old and dead wood, views and many other special features are lined up in a varied and impressive way over a distance of 4.8 km.

The Beech Wilderness Trail is one of the six new hiking trails in the Natural Heritage Hiking World near Altenbeken.

As a circular route, the beech wilderness trail leads around the Rosenberg natural forest cell and also touches two wilderness areas. Visitors can experience a species-rich and ancient beech forest typical of the Egge foothills in all seasons. Guided tours for groups by a ranger are possible.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

It is definitely recommended to take a camera with you. Easy to reach even without a car (Altenbeken train journey and R32 natural heritage bus). Bicycles can also be parked at the NSZ.

About 1.5 kilometers of the Beech Wilderness Trail can also be experienced barrier-free. Follow the light green markings of the Beech Wilderness Trail with the addition "barrier-free".
