Heading northwest, this route leads to the traces of local tobacco processing. Although cigar production in particular was widespread throughout the region, the town of Bünde probably played the biggest part in this. At times, every third cigar produced in Germany came from the second-largest town in the district, earning it the nickname "Germany's cigar box" or "cigar town".
