This unsignposted circular route through Löhne and Gohfeld is a varied tour with partly urban areas and many scenic sections and is perfect for cyclists with a basic level of fitness who are interested in the topic of monuments.

The route starts and ends at the train station in Löhne at Bünder Straße 7.

This circular route highlights the many contrasts that the district of Herford has to offer. Urbanity meets rural seclusion and tranquillity. From Löhn train station, you first ride leisurely via Haus Beck and past numerous ancient trees to Mennighüffen. From the Ulenburger Weg, things suddenly become quieter and the landscape takes center stage. After a detour to Ulenburg Castle and its mill, the route continues along Ulenburger Allee through Obernbeck. At the end of a short ascent, you have a wonderful view of the Ravensberg hills. After crossing the Werre, you reach the Martin Luther Church in Löhne-Ort.
From here, the highest point of the route follows after a few climbs at the local history museum in Bischofshagen. Almost exclusively downhill, you reach the valley of the Mittelbach stream, which drives the water wheel of the Rürupsmühle mill. On the grounds of the mill, which has been lovingly restored by the "From Grain to Bread" association, you can linger by the mill pond or explore the farm garden. The route then leads through the Mittelbachsiek, past Kemenas Mühle back to the Werre. The route then follows the Werre cycle path back to Löhn railroad station, where two cigar factory villas worth seeing await you before you reach your destination. The route leads almost exclusively along roads with little traffic, independent cycle paths and asphalted farm tracks, some of which are closed to through traffic. This means that the circular route is also suitable for families with children.

An alternative starting point is the parking lot at Rürups Mühle. However, it is also possible to set off from any other point on the route. Löhne train station can be reached by regional express train from Bünde, Herford and Bad Oeynhausen. Bicycle transport is possible here (limited).

Further information on the route and the waypoints can be found on the cycle leisure homepage of the district of Herford: www.fahr-im-kreis.de. A brochure is also available there as a free download.
