Kalter Hund

Synopsis: On the very morning of her 100th birthday, Marianne (Corinna Harfouch) discovers her husband Herrmann dead in his bed. Instead of facing the elaborately planned celebration with relatives and the local press, he has taken his own life with an overdose of pills—medication originally intended for the family’s pug, Berlusconi. To prevent a scandal and preserve the reputation of the respected family, Marianne decides to keep the death a secret from the arriving guests. While the celebration is supposed to proceed as usual, an increasingly chaotic game of hide-and-seek begins, in which Herrmann’s body must be moved unnoticed through the house. At the same time, old conflicts resurface within the family, and even before the birthday party has begun, a bitter dispute erupts among the relatives over the late patriarch’s inheritance.
