As deputy editor-in-chief of the small local newspaper "Grevenbroicher Tagblatt", Horst Schlämmer (Hape Kerkeling) knows a thing or two about bad news. And how can looking at the news in view of the world situation and the one right on his own doorstep not send his mood plummeting? You can't even drown your bad mood in alcohol, because the pubs are dying left and right. How are you supposed to get out of this hole, maybe even become happy again? Horst Schlämmer also asks himself this not necessarily small question. And he is determined to find answers. So he sets off on a journey across Germany - from south to north, by car, ship or, inevitably, by the tiresome rail replacement service. It doesn't always seem as if his mission will end well.
