Directly at the starting point of the tour is the Holter Wald adventure trail, where you can discover a lot with your whole family. How far does which animal jump, how does a tree telephone work, how do insects live... these are just three of the many questions that you can actively answer at various stations.
You cycle through the Holter Forest with its sometimes rare species in the plant and animal kingdom into the open alpine pasture landscape of the Liemke district. Only slowly do you approach built-up areas, initially dominated by fields and horse meadows and individual farms. For tired legs, the Wapelaue, a partly renaturalized stream floodplain, partly set up as a pedal pool, is attractive and also offers children plenty of space to play away from the roads. Once you reach the town center, don't miss the award-winning maypole (from May to October). At the Liemker Frischehütte (Kattenheide, very close to the path), you can get produce directly from the farm at your next stop.
From Liemke, the cycle tour leads to the livelier district of Schloß Holte. You have to cycle a good kilometer on the cycle path along the district road. Once you reach Holter Kirchplatz, you will find yourself in the middle of an EXPO project. The center with restaurants, stores, service providers and romantic apartments was built on an industrial wasteland in 2000.
Now it's not far to the starting point of your tour. A few hundred meters and you are back at the edge of the forest where you started. By the way: the Holter Wald adventure trail is also worth a visit at the end!Waypoints
