Barbara (Valerie Pachner) and her partner Heli (Robert Stadlober) live as professional clowns. They are known for their humorous performances and are often referred to as the "clown family". Barbara herself sees being a clown as more than just a profession; it is a philosophy of life for her. The philosophy of clowning that Barbara advocates is based on various principles. These include the ability to find humor in moments of failure and disappointment and to make fun of things that don't go as planned. It is about bringing lightness into everyday life and seeing the positive even in difficult situations. Their life is harmonious and the family laughs a lot together. But then the family is struck by an unimaginable blow of fate. This event puts Barbara's attitude to being a clown and to life to the test.
