Führung zum jüdischen Leben und Gedenkstunde an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus am 8. November 2026 in Harsewinkel

  • Guided tour/tour
On Sunday, November 8, 2026, tour guide Ursula Mußmann invites anyone interested to join this year’s guided tour on Jewish life in Harsewinkel. In addition to covering the more than 200-year history of Jewish life in Harsewinkel, the tour will provide interesting facts about Jewish holidays and customs.

A particular focus is on the fates of the Lorch and Mendels families, who lived in Harsewinkel for many years and were an integral part of community life. The National Socialists’ rise to power brought an end to this peaceful coexistence and led to the deprivation of rights, the destruction of Jewish property, expulsion, and deportation.

The tour begins at 2:30 p.m. at Harsewinkel City Hall and ends around 4:00 p.m. at the Jewish Cemetery. Participation in the tour is free of charge; advance registration is not required.
The memorial service for the victims of National Socialism will begin following the tour at 4:00 p.m. at the Jewish Cemetery on August-Claas Street. Both a group of high school students and Harsewinkel’s mayor, Pamela Westmeyer, will participate with remarks.

This year marks the 88th anniversary of the pogrom that took place on the night of November 9–10, 1938. Men are asked to bring a head covering.
