Führung in Marienfeld: Das geht auf keine Kuhhaut!

  • Guided tour/tour
This tour was called "Cowhide" because it takes its name from the idiom "Es geht auf keine Kuhhaut!" (It's beyond belief!). And you'll find out what's beyond belief during the tour.
Medieval buildings today differ significantly from modern architecture and serve as “testaments” to life in past centuries; thus, their ancient stones are “voices of the past.”
Our language is alive and has evolved over generations. Nevertheless, we still use the occasional idiom in our modern language that has its origins in the Middle Ages or the early modern period. Just as the ancient walls tell stories of history, common idioms also point to times gone by, thus forming a bridge that connects our present with our past.
I invite you to join me on a walk around the Marienfeld Monastery, where you’ll learn about the history of this place and, along the way, discover the origins of some everyday idioms related to monastic life here.
Meeting point: Marienfeld Monastery, monument/memorial (“Brunnenhäuschen”) across from the entrance to the monastery gate in Marienfeld, Klosterstraße, 33428 Marienfeld.
