An outstanding example of Cistercian architecture is the late Romanesque abbey church, whose architecture had a lasting influence on other important church buildings in the Westphalia region and the Baltic Sea area. Together with the baroque abbey building, which borders the church to the west, the old abbey church characterizes the old farmyard of the former monastery. To the east and west, this is dominated by the farm buildings built in the first half of the 18th century, making the entire monastery courtyard an oasis of peace and relaxation.
