About 5,000 years ago, Neolithic people built the large stone chamber tombs near Atteln. These communal tombs served as burial sites for several generations.
The “Atteln I” megalithic tomb was partially reconstructed following archaeological excavations in 1925 and 1978. The reconstructed sections provide insight into how the burial chamber was originally constructed and how the large stone blocks were arranged.

- The stone chamber grave is located on the eastern outskirts of Lichtenau-Atteln (Finkenstraße in the direction of Husen, then turn left into the street "Im Mersch" on the outskirts of Atteln).
