Archaeological excavation near Lichtenau-Atteln
The stone chamber tombs were built around 5000 years ago in the Neolithic period. Several generations were buried in the common graves.

After archaeological excavations took place in 1925 and 1978, the large stone grave "Atteln I" was partially rebuilt to show the original form and construction method.

The stone chamber grave is located on the eastern outskirts of Lichtenau-Atteln (Finkenstraße in the direction of Husen, then turn left into the street "Im Mersch" on the outskirts of Atteln).
