Residenzmuseum Schloß Neuhaus
Neuhaus Palace was expanded under Prince-Bishop Dietrich von Fürstenberg into a closed four-winged complex. Clemens August of Bavaria later had the complex extended - including a stable and an impressive baroque garden, which has now been partially reconstructed.
In the so-called Remter, a hall vaulted over columns, the structural development of the castle is vividly illustrated using building polishes, models and a media reconstruction. Numerous finds from the palace moat, which were recovered by researcher Hans Joachim Nachtmann, also provide fascinating insights into the everyday life of the palace's former inhabitants.
The magnificent state rooms from the reign of Clemens August are located on the Belle Étage of the palace. They have been carefully restored and impressively convey the self-image of the prince-bishop's rule. Valuable exhibits also show the importance of Neuhaus Castle as the intellectual and cultural center of the former Prince-Bishopric of Paderborn.
Accessory stations invite visitors to become active themselves and slip into the roles of gardeners, painters or architects at the court of the 16th to 18th centuries. Further information on exhibitions and offers can be found on the museum's website.
