Ratsgymnasium-Grest`scher Hof

historical building
School
Former aristocratic estate, now used as a grammar school.
Not far from the Waldhof Museum and the Kunsthalle Bielefeld is a former aristocratic manor house with a charming bay window and stair tower. Built in the 16th century as the manor house of mayor Caspar von Greste, the Gretsche Hof also served as an orphanage and cholera ward throughout its history. In 1869, it was rebuilt and integrated as the north wing of the new grammar school - today's Ratsgymnasium. The Ratsgymnasium's scholarly library is an absolute gem.
