Tucked away in the backyard of Viktoriastrasse 48 and 50 is a former linen factory, which has been transformed into a unique museum in Germany in recent years.
The building was erected in 1913 by the Jewish entrepreneur Hugo Juhl, who had table and bed linen as well as ladies' underwear and men's shirts manufactured here. In 1938, political circumstances prompted him to sell the factory. After the purchase by the Winkel brothers, production continued in the factory until 1980. It then stood idle for several years until it was purchased by the Förderverein Projekt Wäschefabrik e.V. with funds from the NRW-Stiftung. The original factory rooms and changing exhibitions can be visited.
