Historisches Museum

Museum/Exhibition
The history of Bielefeld and its region is vividly presented in the Historical Museum.
The Historical Museum in Ravensberger Park presents the history of Bielefeld and its region in a vivid and lively way. From early suburban settlement to the present day, it documents how people worked and lived. The focus is on the industrial age, which has had the most lasting impact on the city and its surrounding area since the middle of the 19th century.

In the restored buildings of the former Ravensberg spinning mill, original machines from the most important branches of industry in Bielefeld, the famous Bielefeld sewing machines and bicycles, as well as evidence of working-class culture and the bourgeoisie, point to the working methods and lifestyles of the city's population. They are embedded in effective displays that stimulate the visitor's curiosity and lead them to ask their own questions about history. Rooms for the collections, the museum workshop, for lectures and discussions as well as for special exhibitions offer visitors a wide range of opportunities to engage with the past and present.
