What you need to know about the origins
The basic idea, the germ, was certainly parked in the back of founder Gerhard Ey's mind for a long time.
During his previous professional career, he saw many corners of the world and gained experience and knowledge at every turn. Not just about work, but also about countries, people, customs and tastes.
Initially intended as a hobby, he became involved in the production of distillates in the form of fruit brandies and spirits. This hobby developed into a passion and then a profession.
One driver was the basic understanding that good things can always be improved. Traditional techniques and new findings do not have to be in opposition to each other, but can complement and benefit from each other seamlessly.
A combination system from Arnold Holstein in Markdorf on Lake Constance forms the core of the technology. This system has been in operation since October 2011.
Since summer 2021, the Drohner Edelbrennerei has been run by Jan Ey, the second generation of the family. As the youngest son of founder Gerhard Ey, he has always been on hand to lend a helping hand since the very beginning and has therefore already learned a few things about distilling.
Combining the traditional craft of distilling with sustainability and regionality should be the guiding principle for the next chapter.
