Explore Stemwede and the neighboring region of Lake Dümmer in Lower Saxony on 66 kilometers. Low-traffic paths ensure a relaxed, all-day tour through the scenic and culturally attractive region.

On the "Zwei-Länder-Tour", you can expect a varied range of nature, culture and experiences. Historic half-timbered houses, beautiful churches and the picturesque landscape are just some of the reasons that make this route so appealing. Whether in the over 1000-year-old monastery town of Levern with its historic town center, in the shadow of the Stemweder Berg, on the Dümmer with cycle-friendly paths or in Bad Essen with the picturesque St. Nikolai Church - there is a lot to discover everywhere!

This route is not short on culinary delights either - delicious Oppenweher asparagus in Stemwede or fresh fish on Lake Dümmer as well as numerous offers in various restaurants await you.

Directions

The starting point is the collegiate town of Levern with its historic collegiate church, the Heimathaus and other half-timbered houses. Passing the Mittelland Canal, the route heads towards the saltwater spa town of Bad Essen in Lower Saxony. On your way to Lake Dümmer, you pass the village of Bohmte and the Hunteburg Roman bridge. Once you reach Lake Dümmer, your route takes you back to Stemwede. On the way, you pass through the Stemwede village of Haldem before reaching your destination, the monastery town of Levern. Of course, you can also end the route at Dümmer See or vice versa.

By car: via the highways A1 (Bremen-Münster), A2 (Hannover-Ruhrgebiet), A30 (Bad Oeynhausen-Osnabrück) or federal highways B51 (Diepholz-Bohmte), B65 (Minden-Bohmte), B239 (Herford-Rahden). By train: via the nearest train stations Bohmte, Lemförde, Rahden, Pr. Oldendorf-Holzhausen and Lübbecke.
Parking spaces are available near the historic town center.
