Archaeological site
Archaeological finds from the founding of the town in 1214 to its destruction in World War II in 1944.

The "ARCHÄO WELLE" ground monument, which was opened at the beginning of 2004, presents an excavation section covering a complete period from the founding of the town in 1214 to its destruction in the Second World War in 1944.

The work was accompanied by the Westphalian Museum of Archaeology and the building authority. The archaeological excavation site is located on the south side of the old town of Bielefeld, on the border between the medieval new town and the presumed pre-urban settlement.
