The Old Town Hall, which was inaugurated in 1904, is located right next to the municipal theater. Gothic and Renaissance elements are mixed with other historical architectural styles. The Bielefeld city coat of arms can be seen in the gable, and an illustrative model of the city from around 1650 is located on the first floor.
The representative administrative headquarters of the city of Bielefeld was expanded in the 1980s with the construction of the modern New Town Hall. The sculpture "Passione per l'arte" by Sandro Chià stands on the square between the town halls.
