- Destination: Versmold, Bockhorst parking lot, Alte Rösterei
After starting at the Bockhorst hiking parking lot, you will discover the idyllic half-timbered ensemble with its Romanesque church in the heart of Bockhorst. Don't miss the Meyer-Hermann estate and the Bockhorst cottage with its bakery. You could almost be reminded of the smell of freshly baked bread.
From here, the route takes you in a south-easterly direction, past the Lange asparagus farm. You then pass the Bunte Mühle mill and come to nostalgic Hörste with its enchanting village church. The route continues past the moated castle of Tatenhausen to the church square in HalleWestphalia, also known as the "heart of Halle". The Kirchring development around St. John's Church consists of charming half-timbered houses from the 16th to 19th centuries. After a relaxing break, the tour leads through the old farming community of Hesseln. It's hard to imagine that the Haller Willem steam locomotive once puffed through here.Today's trains on the railroad line, which was reactivated in 2000, now glide almost silently along the tracks. The path now takes you through a forest and along a stately avenue halfway around Holtfeld moated castle. Treat yourself to a look at the magnificent façade in the Weser Renaissance style and then cycle past the Lütken Mühle mill via the village center of Bockhorst back to the starting point.Good to know
