The Porta Westfalica Concentration Camp Memorial and Documentation Site and the Hausberge Jewish Cemetery Working Group of the Porta Westfalica Comprehensive School jointly invite you to a guided tour of the traces of Jewish life in Porta Westfalica.
For centuries, Jewish citizens were an integral part of Hausberge's urban society. As part of the tour, participants will discover the places that are inextricably linked to Hausberge's Jewish history. Michelsohnplatz is located opposite the site where the synagogue building stood in the garden of the Michelsohn family's residential and commercial building until the 1930s. From there, the route leads along Hauptstraße past the stumbling stones for the Pinkus family. The tour ends at the Hausberge Jewish cemetery on Kempstraße. The history of the cemetery not only reflects centuries of Jewish burial culture, but also cultural and social developments as well as the exclusion and persecution during the Nazi dictatorship are visible in many places.
The tour takes around 90 to 120 minutes. Parking is available around Michelsohnplatz or a little further away on Kempstraße near the town hall. On the last section of the tour, the path leads up a steep section of Kempstraße. Parking is very limited in the area of the cemetery itself.
