It is intended to promote the relaxation of body and soul, to enhance health, is rather cheerful in nature, and naturally appeals to a wide audience, the spa music. A particularly successful proponent of this genre is the "Bad Salzuflen Orchestra".
The founder and chief of the Bad Salzuflen Orchestra is the native Hungarian György Kovacs, who studied clarinet himself and obtained his diploma from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
The daily spa music can be heard with an ensemble of up to seven musicians, in the morning and afternoon, except on Mondays. During the winter months, the orchestra performs with a smaller ensemble. The spa concerts feature potpourris in the first half, for example from operettas and overtures, and in the second half, musical and pop melodies, swing, Dixieland, and more. Special concerts have specific themes, such as the Italian journey with music by Verdi and Rossini, or French composers like Bizet and Massenet. The most attended are the request concerts on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
