Zieglerbrunnen Lage

Monument
The inauguration of the brickmakers' fountain, which was created by Sendenhorst artist Bernhard Kleinhans, took place in 1982 in the presence of all Lippe brickmakers' associations. The "Mäckelmarkt" was held at the site of the fountain from the 18th to the 20th century. This is where brickmakers and master brickmakers concluded their contracts for the coming year between December and February. In 1910, the peak of brickmaking, there were 14,227 brickmakers in Lippe, or 10 percent of the population.

About the picture:

Carmen Zimbehl's contribution to the Lage views is the Lage market square with the Zieglerbrunnen fountain at its center. For her, this bright, friendly square is a place created for communication and a break in the middle of everyday life. It is comparable to a market square in Siena (Italy/Tuscany), only much smaller, of course. It would be nice if there were more street cafés here, because the square is made for them. Warm earth tones, her favorite colors right after yellow, dominate the picture.
