The Hardehausen bison enclosure is a 170-hectare game reserve in the East Westphalian town of Warburg in North Rhine-Westphalia. The bison enclosure was created in 1958 in the Schwarzbachtal valley between the districts of Scherfede and Hardehausen.
There are lots of information boards along the hiking trails, making it interesting for children too.
There are regular seating areas.
The enclosure is open around the clock.
The aim of the enclosure is to ensure the breeding of bison in particular. In addition to the mountain bison, there are also lowland bison in a separate enclosure on site. This is currently only the case at two locations in the whole of Europe. Also on site are a herd of wild horses (back-bred from the tarpan) and, with a bit of luck, white and naturally colored red deer.
