Mill

Windmills are a major exception around Spenge - it was much easier to grind grains and oilseeds using water power along the many streams. Many of these water mills have a centuries-old tradition and history. The "Dutch" Hücker Aschen windmill, on the other hand, is still "young" - it was only built in 1861 by master miller Friedrich Wilhelm Dieckmann.

The mill remained in service until 1955, although the wings were taken out of service in 1948. In the 1980s, extensive renovations were carried out and the wings were rebuilt. Inside the mill, the almost completely preserved technical inventory can be admired.

Today, the Hücker-Aschen local history association looks after the preservation of the windmill and offers tours. For dates and further information, please contact the Hücker-Aschen local history association and Fahr im Kreis.
