The Holster Chapel "Schneekapelle" in the Hinnenburg Forest is a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Every year on 5 August on the day of Mary Snow, the church celebrates the consecration of the Basilica of Sancta Maria Maggiore in Rome. Originally, a small half-timbered chapel stood on the highest elevation of the Holsterberg, at the foot of which the deserted village of "Holthusen" was located in the Middle Ages. An avenue of chestnut trees led to this chapel, which Hermann-Werner Freiherr von der Asseburg had planted together with his baroque gardens. This avenue is still almost completely intact today. As the old chapel had fallen into disrepair, the current chapel was built in the neo-Gothic style. Only pure tuff was used.
