The Ottilienquelle is the only relict of the "Curanstalt Inselbad", whose beginnings date back to the 16th century.
From 1856 to 1912, primarily chronic lung diseases were treated here. The "Curanstalt" consisted of a sanatorium, colonnade, bathhouse and spa gardens.

For a long time, the Ottilienquelle, named after the owner's wife Wiesehahn, was a healthy artesian spring that was successfully marketed as a spa treatment. It poured 180 liters of water per minute at a constant 18 degrees Celsius. It is a weakly mineralized Na-Ca-Cl-HCO3 water. As early as the middle of the 19th century, 3000 bottles of water were dispatched. It was still bottled in a small bottling plant until 1965, but the operation had become uneconomical despite a modern bottling plant. The spring was forgotten until the Paderborn local history association took care of it in 1986 and had a new basin with a well bowl built. The well was re-drilled in 2013.
