Naturpark Teutoburger Wald/Eggegebirge

In the north of the landscape garden, the Bad Salzufl forest gradually begins. This scenic recreational area for nature lovers is part of the Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge Nature Park.

The Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge Nature Park offers all possibilities with its valuable natural habitats. In addition to extensive beech forest types, there are bogs, dry meadows, and heaths with their specific vegetation forms. Numerous watercourses arise from the mountain slopes. The varied landscape of the nature park invites exploration time and again. From the ridges of the Egge and the Teuto, but also from the Weser heights, numerous viewpoints offer spectacular views of the landscape. In addition to the two mountain ranges, the Lipper Bergland, the Oberwälder Land, parts of the Paderborn Plateau, and the Senne are part of the nature park area.

The unfragmented landscapes are retreat areas for rare and disturbance-sensitive animal species, such as the black stork, the Eurasian eagle owl, the red kite, or the wildcat. Of course, roe deer, red deer, fallow deer, and wild boar call this place home. Noteworthy animals also include the bison, which are preserved from extinction in Hardehausen.
