Werther (Westphalia) is the hometown of the painter and sculptor Peter August Böckstiegel (who died in 1951), who was known beyond the borders of the state and country. Böckstiegel designed his childhood home in bright red, now complemented by modern architecture clad in natural stone. For visitors, the Museum Peter August Böckstiegel presents itself as a "foundling in the meadow". On 300 square meters of exhibition space, you will discover Böckstiegel's work and special exhibitions on classical modernism. Embedded in Böckstiegel's Westphalian homeland, its design and the paintings and sculptures on display make it a unique synthesis of the arts. The "Bistro and Café Vincent" invites you to linger in the museum before or after your visit with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake or a hearty Westphalian specialty. Tip: Walk from the city center to the museum along the Böckstiegel Trail with a total of 17 stations.
